Oct. 10, 2000

Reno, Nev. --- Four Washington State golfers shot their way into the top 20 at the Wolf Pack Classic, helping the Cougars to a second place finish at the par-71 Wolf Run Golf Course.

After finishing the first round tied with Rhode Island for second place, the Cougars pulled away from the Rams on Tuesday to claim sole possession of second. Nevada won the tournament by carding an 11-over-par 579, 10 strokes ahead of WSU.

Washington State was led by freshman Isaac Woods. The Enumclaw, Wash., native fired a second round 70 and a three-over-par 145 for the tournament, earning a career-best fourth place.

Woods wasn't the only Cougar in the top 10. Junior Jon Reehoorn joined his freshman teammate by shooting a five-over-par 147 and grabbing eighth place. Reehoorn now has five career top 10 finishes.

Sophomore Dustin White and junior Jeremy Taylor rounded out the balanced Cougar attack, tying for 14th and 20th, respectively. White shot a seven-over 149 over the 36-hole tournament, while Taylor was one stroke behind after shooting back-to-back 75s.

Roger Flynn, the fifth WSU player to make the trip, responded with a 73 on Tuesday after a first round 79. The junior Academic All-American tied for 34th.

Nevada's Sprague Kolp fought off Hawaii's Matthew Kodama to grab top individual honors. Liberty's James Yoo fired a second round 68 to surge into third place.

The Nevada-hosted event was shortened to 36 holes after poor weather on Monday. The Cougars return to action at 49er Collegiate in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 2-3.
