Pac-10 play reaches the halfway point this weekend as the top four teams in the standings square off with USC and UCLA visiting ARIZONA and ARIZONA STATE. . . The Oregon schools travel to Washington where OREGON and WASHINGTON each look for their first league victory. . . CALIFORNIA and STANFORD meet in this week's rival match -- both teams are tied in the standings with a 4-4 league record. . . This week's FOX Sports Net televised match features UCLA at Arizona State . . . The Pac-10's non-conference record stands at an impressive 63-16 (.797). . . This week's Volleyball Magazine poll includes No.1 USC, No. 5 Arizona, No. 13 UCLA and No. 19 Stanford, while the USA Today/AVCA poll lists No. 4 USC, No. 6 Arizona, No. 10 UCLA and No. 21 Stanford.

PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Alicia Perry, CaliforniaSenior outside hitter Alicia Perry (Lakewood, Calif.) was named Pac-10 Player of the Week as she led California to victories over Washington and Washington State last weekend. Perry hit .297 for the week with 44 kills (6.29 kpg) and 14 errors in 102 attempts. In the win over Washington, she hit .283 with 26 kills, 30 digs and three blocks. In the win over Washington State, she hit .310 with 18 kills, 14 digs and a block. Perry earns the Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for the second time in her career, California's 13th all-time.

PAC-10 NOTES

ARIZONA - The Wildcats are riding a school-record 14-match winning streak. . . Arizona is second in the Conference with 3.21 blocks per game. The Wildcats have outblocked their opponent in 14 of 15 matches this season. . . Senior outside hitter Marisa DaLee has registered double digit kills in each of her last nine matches. . . Arizona remains perfect on the road with an 8-0 record, 5-0 in opposing Pac-10 venues. . . Since losing the first two games at Arizona State in the league opener, Arizona has won 21 consecutive games in Pac-10 play en route to their 7-0 league mark.

ARIZONA STATE - Senior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge has recorded double-digit kill numbers in each match she has played this season (15 of ASU's 17 matches). She has posted 20 or more kills in nine of those matches. . . Freshman setter Cheryl Anglin ranks third in the league with 13.00 assists per game. Her season total to date is 780 assists - the most by an ASU freshman since former Sun Devil All-American Regina Stahl recorded 1,062 assists during her freshman campaign in 1984.

CALIFORNIA - No matter the outcome of Tuesday's match at Stanford, the Bears have posted four league wins in the first half of Pac-10 play since 1991 when Cal was 5-4 during the first go-around in league action that year. . . Senior Alicia Perry needs 38 digs to become the fourth Cal player with 1,000 kills/1,000 digs in a career. Perry's 30 digs vs. Washington on Oct. 6 marked the seventh time in school history that a player posted 30 or more digs in a match. . . Freshman outside hitter Gabrielle Abernathy set a Cal freshman record with 29 kills in Cal's victory over Washington on Oct. 6.

OREGON - Junior outside hitter Monique Tobbagi continues to pace the Oregon attack with 3.65 kills per game - seventh in the Pac-10. Tobbagi has posted double-digit kill numbers in nine matches this season. She also has hit better than .400 in three of the last five matches, collecting 48 kills (3.20 kpg) during those five matches.

OREGON STATE - OSU's win over Arizona state was its first against the Sun Devils since 1997. . . Senior middle blocker Angie Shirley moved into fifth place on OSU's career blocks list with 436. She needs 26 more to take over the No. 4 spot. . . Junior outside hitter Gina Schmidt led OSU with 24 kills and 20 digs against ASU. It was the second time this season that she had 20 or more kills and digs in the same match (she had 20 kills and 27 digs in a win over Cal). She's had 20 or more kills in seven of OSU's last 10 matches. . . OSU's 4-3 record in Pac-10 play is its best start since 1993, when the Beavers were 5-2 through the first seven league matches.

STANFORD - After collecting 41 blocks in two matches last weekend vs. the Washington schools, the Cardinal bumped their league-leading block total to 3.25 blocks per game. . . Senior middle blocker Jennifer Detmer tallied 21 blocks last weekend ( a career-high 12 vs. Washington State, 9 vs. Washington). Since her return to the lineup eight matches ago, Detmer is hitting .421 with 89 kills (3.19 kpg) with 43 blocks (1.54 bpg).

UCLA - In UCLA's four-game loss to USC on Friday night, junior outside hitter Kristee Porter posted her fourth 30-kill mtch of the season, tying her for the national lead in 30-kill matches. (Jennifer Wittenberg, Houston, Sarah McFarland, Loyola Marymout, Alma Kovacki, Temple--each have 4-30 kill matches apiece). . . Four of UCLA's five losses are to the top-four teams in the current AVCA Poll: #1 Nebraska, #2 Hawai'i, #3 Colorado State and #4 USC. The Bruins played Nebraska and Colorado State at neutral sites, and took the Huskers and Rams to five games before absorbing 17-15 and 15-10 losses, respectively. Additionally, the Bruins are the only team so far this season to win a game against USC. . . UCLA was able to end USC's streak of consecutive games won at 38. Ironically, the last time USC had a streak that long, it was a 38-game streak in the 1977 season, and the streak was stopped by the Bruins in a five-game UCLA win.

USC - USC's streak was broken when the Trojans lost the third game in a four-game match with the Bruins on Friday (Oct. 6). The streak ended at 38-straight game victories - the longest in program history, second longest in Pac-10 history (UCLA won 42-straight in 1992). . . The USC-UCLA match was the longest for the Trojans this season (2:27) and more than doubled the season average. . . Freshman Kelli Lantz made her first start at UC Irvine, replacing Jennifer Pahl who was resting a sore shoulder. Lantz shined with a .556 attack percentage (6 kills, one error, nine attacks). . . UCLA is the third team to hit above .200 against the Women of Troy, but still did not surpass Washington State who hit .257 against the Trojans - the highest opponent attack percentage of the season. . . Senior outside hitter Anotinette Polk is just two kills shy of hitting the career 1,000 mark.

WASHINGTON - Washington enters this weekend with all-time winning records versus both opponents, including a 37-15 mark versus Oregon and a 32-18 record against Oregon State. . . The Huskies have won nine of the last 10 meetings versus the Ducks and seven of the last 10 meetings against the Beavers. . . .

WASHINGTON STATE - Sophomore outside hitter LaToya Harris has recorded double-digit kill numbers in 12 of WSU's 16 matches. . . Junior setter Kali Surplus has posted 225 assists over the last four matches, averaging 15.00 assists per game. . . Coach Cindy Fredrick needs two wins in league play to reach 100 Pac-10 wins. Her 98 career Pac-10 win total ranks fourth all-time (229 - Don Shaw, Stanford, 216 - Andy Banachowski, UCLA, 119 - Lisa Love, USC).
