CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Street & Smith's preseason poll ranked the University of Oregon women's basketball team at No. 22 in the nation.

Defending national champion Connecticut is ranked No. 1, followed by Tennessee, Georgia, Purdue and LSU. Stanford, in at No. 13, is the only other Pac-10 team represented. Other Oregon opponents on the list include No. 16 North Carolina State, No. 18 Wisconsin and No. 21 Texas.

Oregon won its second straight Pac-10 championship last season after going 14-4 in the conference. The Ducks, who return 10 letterwinners and three starters, finished 23-8 a year ago after losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Oregon's first day of practice is Saturday, Oct. 14.
