Washington's Ritchie Named Pac-10 Soccer Player of the Week

Oct. 10, 2000

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington defenseman Bryn Ritchie has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for October 3-9, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Ritchie, from Medford, Ore., played a key role in leading No. 12 Washington to a sweep of the Bay Area schools. In the Huskies 2-1 overtime win over then-No. 4 Stanford, Ritchie tallied an assist on the first goal, then came through again by scoring the game-winner in overtime. Against California, he had one shot on goal and was part of the Huskies stifling defense, which shutout the Bears 7-0.

Ritchie ranks among the Pac-10 leaders in total assists, assists per game and goals per game, and he has helped lead the Huskies to four shutouts this season.

This is the first weekly honor for Ritchie and Washington's first Player of the Week honor all-time.
