WHAT'S UP
Oregon (4-9-0, 1-1-0 Pac-10) hits the road to take on 13th-ranked USC (8-1-2, 0-0-1) on Friday at 3 p.m. and seventh-ranked UCLA (9-1-1, 0-0-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

THE COACH
Bill Steffen is in his fifth year as the Ducks' coach and has directed Oregon since the program's inaugural season in 1996. He has a 27-55-6 record in five years, including a 7-11-1 mark in 1999 -- the best ledger in the team's short history.

THE SERIES VS. USC
USC leads the series with Oregon 4-0, including a 3-1 win at Eugene last season. Erin Anderson scored the Ducks' only goal in that game on an assist from Chalise Baysa. USC has outscored Oregon 17-4 in the series' four games.

THE SERIES VS. UCLA
UCLA leads the series 2-1. Last season, Melissa Parker's game-winning goal in the 59th minute gave Oregon a 2-1 victory over 20th-ranked UCLA.

The replay of the Oregon-Arizona match will be regionally broadcast on Fox Sports Neton Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m.

WHAT'S HAPPENED
Oregon vs. Arizona, Oct. 8
The Ducks picked up their first Pac-10 victory this year with a 2-0 win over Arizona at Eugene. Missing three starters due to injury, Oregon's Chalise Baysa sparked the Ducks with two scores, the first, at the 29th minute, establishing a school-record for career goals (22). Oregon also recorded its first shutout of the season, with Sarah Peters (72 minutes) and Jeanine Norstad (18 minutes) sharing the goalkeeping duties.

Oregon vs. Arizona State, Oct. 6
Despite Chalise Baysa's goal in the first minute, the Ducks couldn't survive two Arizona State goals in the final eight minutes of the match, losing 2-1 at Pape' Field in the conference opener for both teams.

STIFF COMPETITION
Oregon's schedule features 10 teams ranked in the NSCAA top 25, seven of which are in the top 13. In addition, five of the Ducks' ranked opponents are Pac-10 teams. Among the Ducks' non-conference opponents, only Florida State, ranked No. 22 this week, had a losing record (9-10-1) in 1999.

CHALISE IN CHARGE
With midfielder Chalise Baysa's goal at the 29th minute against Arizona on Sunday, she became Oregon's all-time leader in goals with 22, breaking Erin Anderson's school record of 21, set between 1996-99. Baysa also is six points shy of the single-season school record for points (19), also held by Anderson, while she is tied with Sierra Marsh (1996-99) for career game-winning goals with six. Baysa, who has a team-leading six goals (tied for ninth in the Pac-10), is only a junior.

GOOSE EGG
Behind Sarah Peters and Jeanine Norstad, Oregon recorded its first shutout of the season Sunday against Arizona. Peters played for 72 minutes and tallied six saves while Norstad played the final 18 minutes, saving one shot attempt.

INJURY UPDATE
Crystal David reinjured the MCL (strain) in her left knee Oct. 1 against Florida State. She originally injured the ligament against San Diego Aug. 29. T.J. Johnson sprained a rib against Xavier Sept. 22. Both David and Johnson likely will play Friday.

FINDERS, KEEPERS
The Ducks have played both Sarah Peters and Jeanine Norstad at goalkeeper. Peters has played most of the minutes, registering 85 saves, which leads the Pac-10, and allowing 31 goals (2.84 GAA). Meanwhile, Norstad has allowed four goals along with collecting 10 saves. Both goalies are sophomores.

CRYSTAL ON THE BALL
After not participating in spring drills, Crystal David, who played at San Francisco her first two years, hasn't missed a beat. She is second on the Ducks with eight points, scoring three goals along with collecting two assists and a team-leading 20 shots.

YOUNG GUNS
The Ducks have only three returning seniors and four total, including transfer Mary Cascio. In all, Oregon has eight new faces on the team this year, three of whom are Division I transfers. The Ducks lost 13 seniors off last season's squad.

ATTENDANCE FIGURES
Oregon ranks fourth in the Pac-10 in home attendance with a 531 average. Washington is first, averaging 927 fans while UCLA is second with a 651 per-game average.
