TUCSON, Ariz. (www.arizcats.com) - The College Golf Foundation announced Monday that Arizona freshman golfer Lorena Ochoa has been named Rolex College Golfer of the Month for September.

Ochoa won individual medalist honors at the Comcast/Dick McGuire Invitational while shooting a seven-under-par 212. Her performance set and tied many course records, including matching the 54-hole course record of former Wildcat Marisa Baena.

She also tied for ninth place at the NCAA Fall Preview, where she shot a three-over par 149 to help the Wildcats to a second place finish. Ochoa was recently named the Golf World Collegiate Player of the Week. She stands third in the October 4 edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings after beginning the season unranked. Ochoa's current stroke average is 72.20.

The Rolex College Golfer of the Month award is voted by members of the College Golf Foundation's Golfer of the Month Committee. The award is based primarily on results from Rolex Collegiate Tour events, plus conference championships, NCAA Regionals and the NCAA Championships.

Ochoa and the Wildcats continue fall play on October 20 at the Stanford/Pepsi Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
