USC Defends Edean Ihlanfeldt Golf Title

Redmond, WA - USC built its lead back to 12 strokes and successfully defended its championship at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at Sahalee Country Club in Redmond, Wash. The Trojans, ranked fourth in this week's Golfweek Collegiate standings, fired a 297, the second best score of the day, to post a 54-hole total of 986. USC's total was 32-over par. Stanford carded a 299 during the final round to slip by Arizona State for runner-up honors with a score of 908. The Sun Devils shot 306 to fall into third place with a three-day total of 911.
Stanford's Stephanie Keever and Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh tied for medalist honors with even-par scores of 216. Keever carded a 2-over 74 during the final round of play while Prammanasudh shot an even-par 72. Washington sophomore Louise Friberg tied for eighth overall with a 9-over score of 225. Friberg, whose sister, Michaela plays for Arizona State, shot a 73 on Wednesday, the best score by any Husky during the final 18 holes of play.
'Sahalee is a demanding course and there were some relatively high scores out here this week,' says Husky coach Mary Lou Mulflur. 'I would have liked to see us post some better scores, but at the same time I'm happy that we did not drop below seventh place, which is where we started the day.'
Washington's next fall competition will be Oct. 20-22 at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
