Women's Golfers Move Up to Third after Two Rounds in Washington

The UCLA women's golf team improved its position and increased its third place lead after two rounds at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington at Sahalee Country Club.

The Bruins, in a tie for fourth on Monday, improved six shots after Tuesday's second round and currently are tied for third place. The Bruins posted a score of 300 in the second round for a total of 606 and are tied with Tulsa. USC is first at 599, followed by Arizona State at 305. Stanford is fifth at 609, followed by Pepperdine at 610.

UCLA freshman Gina Umeck posted a two-over par score of 74 in the second round and is tied for sixth at 150. Senior Laura Moffat carded a 77 and is tied for 10th at 151. Sophomore Saki Uechi is tied for 14th at 152 and junior Alicia Um is tied for 20th at 153. Freshman Johanna Andersson is tied for 66th at 166.

Stanford's Stephanie Keever opened a two-shot lead entering the final round. She posted an even par 72 for a total of 142 and leads USC's Candie Kung and Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh, who are tied at 144.

Final round action continues Wednesday.
