The Oregon Ducks passed their first true road test of the season with flying colors by handling Arizona State, 43-21, in Tempe. Those 43 points all came in the first 20 minutes of the game before the Ducks more or less shut it down with a 36-point lead at the time - that’s dominance. Unfortunately for the team from Eugene, Alabama, Florida and Kansas State dominated as well, so Oregon drops a spot to No. 4 in the latest BCS standings. The Ducks have now been in the top 10 of the BCS for 21 consecutive weeks, dating back to 2009.

The Oregon State Beavers’ BCS top 10 streak is 19 weeks shorter, but they do have one thing over their hated rivals: the Beavers jumped up in the standings this week while the Ducks moved down. Thanks to a South Carolina loss, Oregon State moved up one spot to No. 7. Of course, Oregon State also had to win to make that slight jump, which it did by taking care of business at home against Utah in 21-7 fashion and forcing four Ute turnovers in the process. With the win, the Beavers also became bowl-eligible for the first time since 2009.

It’s good to know that everyone saw this coming in the preseason… The USC Trojans’ record-setting day against Colorado filled with all sorts of triple-digit numbers resulted in just one digit for their most recent BCS spot: USC is now No. 9. The Trojans’ 50-6 victory featured all sorts of new conference- and school-highs that would be too long to list in this post, so I’ll let Ashley Atwell take it away from here. Like the Beavers, USC also became bowl-eligible for the first time since 2009 with a win on Saturday.

Everyone knew that Stanford’s run defense was top-notch, but holding another team to three yards on 28 carries? That’s about four inches per carry. It’s all the more gratifying for the Cardinal seeing as they did that to Cal in the 115^th Big Game, a contest Stanford won easily, 21-3. Thanks to losses by West Virginia and Texas A&M, the Stanford Cardinal have crawled up to No. 17 in the latest BCS standings. Once a regular bottom-half finisher, Stanford has now been in the last 22 BCS Top 25 releases.
