Somewhere in the deep nether realms of Montana, Sage Indendi was working a landscaping job on a farm. It was a step back in time for Indendi, as she had to go over to a nearby tree just to get two full bars of cell phone reception during her lunch breaks.

It was during one of those breaks that Indendi, who had recently transferred from being a basketball player at George Fox to a student at Oregon State, found out her old college coach Scott Rueck would be joining her in Corvallis. Still, Indendi didn't necessarily think she would be playing for the Beavers the next winter.

"[Rueck] ended up holding a tryout, and I had to work my butt off to get on that team," Indendi said.

Perhaps it was a little more concrete than she thought. Rueck had more than a strong hunch Indendi would be a part of the Oregon State basketball program once she declared her intentions.

"Her basketball IQ is the highest of anyone I have ever coached," Rueck said. "Once she told me she wanted to try out, I knew right then she would have a spot on this roster."
