Kristi Kingma had high hopes going into her senior year, coming off a 2010-11 campaign in which she ranked fourth in the conference in scoring with 15.6 points per game. Unfortunately, the Mill Creek, Wash., product was unable to suit up last year because of a knee injury.

Fortunately, she was able to take a lot away from her redshirt season, most notably the ability to see the game from a coach's standpoint. The dead-eye shooter expects this to help her be a leader for her Huskies in 2012-13.

"My leadership style in the past has been more lead by example, but being on the sideline and observing what coach says to [my teammates] probably has been more helpful for me," Kingma said. "So I would say I have more of an analytical approach to the game."

Coach McGuff, for one, is happy to have her back on the floor, as the Huskies transition to being more of a perimeter-oriented team after losing stalwart post player Regina Rogers to graduation.

"She is one of the best shooters I have had a chance to coach," McGuff said of Kingma, who broke a school record by making 79 three-pointers in 2010-11. "She also has a great basketball IQ. I’m really excited to have her on the court this year because I think she is going to give us great leadership."
