Sun Devils have an NBA feel

Arizona State head coach Herb Sendek made a big splash over the summer when he hired assistant coaches Eric Musselman and Larry Greer, both of whom have experience on NBA staffs; especially Musselman, who is a former head coach of the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. While Musselman and Greer have been in Tempe for just two months, Sun Devil guard Carrick Felix can already see the dividends.

"They bring in a new flavor and a new vibe, and you can definitely tell," Felix said at Thursday's men's basketball media day at Pac-12 Networks HQ in San Francisco. "They know their X's and O's, and it's just great for us to have."

When he had to fill two spots on his staff, Sendek purposely targeted prospective coaches who had worked in the professional ranks.

"We set out to hire some coaches with NBA experience. That was our overarching goal," Sendek said at media day. "At the end of the day [we] decided that Eric Musselman and Larry Greer were great fits for us. The thing that stands out in my mind with both of those men is they are excellent teachers."
