HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ, Czech Republic – All 11 Cougar players tallied points, as the Washington State University women’s basketball team beat Hradec Králové, 80-66, at Sokolovna in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, Tuesday. The game was WSU’s second of a four-game tour through Austria, Slovakia, and Czech Republic.
“I thought we brought our intensity level up defensively and forced numerous turnovers,” head coach June Daugherty said. “I thought we rebounded much stronger in the game than the first one, which is a good step in the right direction for our team. This was a very good team we played against today, with two Czech National Team players. I thought our frontline dominated their frontline, so it’s a good sign for the Cougs.”
Sophomore Lia Galdeira led all scorers with 17 points. The Cougars had 33 points off the bench, as all 11 Cougar players scored in the game for the second-straight time. Hradec Králové was lead by Michaela Hartigová with 15 points.
WSU will next face Karlovy Vary Aug. 14, and BLK VSE Praha Aug. 15, before returning to Pullman, Aug. 16.
