SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (Nov. 26, 2014) – Following the release of the College Football Playoff poll this evening, Pac-12 Network analysts Rick Neuheisel and Yogi Roth shared their initial thoughts regarding how things played out.

Neuheisel on this week’s rankings…

“This week’s rankings were as expected. Great respect shown for the Pac-12 in that Utah stays in the top-25 as the only four-loss team that’s ahead of Texas A&M and ahead of LSU, who are both SEC West teams. The Pac-12 has four teams in the top-13.“

Neuheisel on other surprises that jumped out to him…

“I’m surprised that Boise is ahead of Marshall. Marshall is punished because Louisville canceled a game on them. That will be a point of contention at day’s end if it stays that way.”

Roth on this week’s rankings…

“Throughout this season the committee has not given us a reason to become skeptical of their decision and their rankings. I think we would agree specifically with their top-eight, and the teams that really have a chance to move up into the playoffs. I think where UCLA is, is exactly where they should be as the top two-loss team. Even if you look at Oregon with their resume, I understand their opinion on it. I still think Oregon has the most quality wins out of anyone in the top four.”

Roth on other surprises that jumped out to him…

“I’m surprised by Utah and I was surprised Boise State. I was also impressed that UCLA was the highest two-loss team. Again, it proves the committee is taking in the entire body of work, and that they are not just going off history and reputations of programs. They are going off exactly what they see on the field and on the film.”

The duo will join host Mike Yam on Pac-12 Football Weekly tonight at 10:00 p.m. PT with more on the College Football Playoff poll.
