Roundup: Miller, Krystkowiak debate who's really the underdog

A debate between Sean Miller and Larry Krystkowiak heading into a top-10 showdown Saturday is about which team between No. 10 Arizona and No. 8 Utah is the underdog, writes the Salt Lake Tribune's Kyle Goon and Matt Piper. Really.

Freshman Stanley Johnson got the ball a lot against Colorado but didn't force anything. That trend should probably continue if Arizona wants to beat Utah this weekend, writes the Arizona Daily Star's Greg Hansen.

On Wednesday, former Trojan Nick Young and girlfriend / rap icon Iggy Azalea had a weird Kiss Cam experience at the UCLA-USC game this week. Speaking of Swaggy P, Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins goes long on the enigmatic Lakers guard.

Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan is back for his senior year. And so begin the questions of whether the Cardinal can overtake Oregon as favorites in the Pac-12 North.

Washington center Robert Upshaw scored 12 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked six shots against Oregon State. Just four games into Pac-12 play, he's already claimed UW's record for blocks in a single season, with 72 in 16 games (that's 4.5 blocks per outing, by the way). Here's the game report, from The Seattle Times' Percy Allen.

Arizona State compounded poor defense with bad shot selection in a loss to No. 8 Utah, but coach Herb Sendek was at least pleased his team was more careful with the ball, reports FOX Sports Arizona's Jack Magruder.

As painful as this might be for Bruins fans, here is UCLA football's preview of life after Brett Hundley, courtesy of the LA Daily News' Jack Wang.

Sean Miller compared Askia Booker to Jimmer Fredette , reports the Arizona Daily Star's Bruce Pascoe. Arizona couldn't stop Booker from dropping 30 points in a performance the UA coach compared to the former BYU guard's 49-point performance at the McKale Center in 2009.

Two Cal soccer players were selected in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. Forward Connor Hallisey went 10th overall to Sporting Kansas City and forward Stefano Bonomo went 39th to the New York Red Bulls.

A few days late on this one, but worth pointing out: Gina Mizell and The Oregonian are doing a running series to help Beavers fans get to know the new football coaching staff. Here's their piece on offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin

Who says college basketball is slow these days? Former Oregon coach Ernie Kent saw his Washington State Cougars drop the Ducks 108-99 in a high-scoring overtime game in Pullman on Thursday night.

Running back Thomas Tyner's high school coach, Chris Casey, told The Oregonian's Danny Moran that the Duck knows how to deal with injuries. Even though Tyner will continue to share snaps with freshman Royce Freeman, Casey believes he'll be back stronger next year.
