Utah’s Hunter Dimick Finalist for Ted Hendricks Award

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah senior defensive end Hunter Dimick has been named as one of six finalists for the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award. The other finalists are Jonathan Allen (Alabama), Derek Barnett (Tennessee), Harold Landry (Boston College), Ejuan Price (Pittsburgh) and Demarcus Walker (Florida State).

The award is named for NFL Hall of Fame defensive end Ted Hendricks and is voted on by select college coaches, former players, media members and pro football personnel. The criteria include on-field performance, leadership and contributions to school and community.

Utah's Nate Orchard won the award in 2014 and is one of two Pac-12 recipients in the award's first 14 years.

Dimick, a 2016 first-team All-Pac-12 Conference honoree and an Academic All-American, leads the Pac-12 and is tied for third in the nation in sacks (14.5) and tackles for loss (20.5). A four-year starter, Dimick has a school-record 29.5 career sacks and his 44.5 career tackles for loss is third all-time at Utah.

He is currently tied for the team lead in pass breakups with six and ranks fourth in tackles with 53.

A two-time All-Pac-12 recipient (he was honorable mention as a sophomore), Dimick has made the Pac-12 All-Academic team all four years—including first-team status in 2015 and 2016. The communication major carries a 3.33 grade point average.
