The Cardinal looked dead in the water about five different times in that game but found a way to force OT and took advantage in the extra session. Ian O’Connor of ESPN details how Tiger Woods overcame obstacles in his life to secure his 80th PGA Tour victory at the Tour Championship Sunday.

Nice win for the Trojans over Washington State Friday night, and if this blogger may editorialize a bit, columnists and fans alike were being pretty unreasonable following the Trojans’ 1-2 start. USC is a very young team replacing the No. 3 pick of the 2018 NFL Draft with a kid who should be a senior in high school, its two losses are to ranked teams on the road and it just beat a Washington State team that has turned into a consistent winner over the last few years; not to mention that all Clay Helton has done is win a Rose Bowl and Pac-12 title in his first two full seasons.

Don’t play, get ranked – now that’s a good weekend. Cal football is ranked 24th in the latest AP poll following a bye and a slew of losses for teams in the back half of the top 25 from the week before. This is the first time the Golden Bears have been ranked since the 2015 season.
UCLA quarterback Devon Modster is transferring, he announced on Twitter Friday (Los Angeles Times). Modster was thought to be a candidate for the starting QB job in fall camp.
