Pac-12

Wednesday is Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Media Day, and with that means the announcement of the preseason poll. As expected, Oregon was picked to win the Pac-12 by the coaches, with Stanford checking in at second and Oregon State third. Should be a great season of women’s hoops in the Pac-12, as the conference realistically could get four teams into the Sweet 16 and maybe even three with a shot at the Final Four (this blogger’s predictions normally die hard, though, so take that with a grain or two of salt).

UCLA

Another blow to UCLA men’s basketball’s highly-touted recruiting class came Tuesday morning when the school announced that freshman guard Tyger Campbell will miss the season with a torn ACL that he suffered in practice Sunday (ESPN). This news comes after it was revealed that Shareef O’Neal won’t play this year either after doctors discovered the need for O’Neal to have heart surgery.

Oregon

James Crepea of The Oregonian/OregonLive gives us a by-the-numbers comparison of Washington quarterback Jake Browning and Oregon QB Justin Herbert ahead of the big showdown Saturday afternoon.

Colorado

Sam Metivier of SB Nation’s Ralphie Report believes that the Colorado-USC game could decide the Pac-12 South. He’s not wrong.

USC

Pac-12 Networks' Yogi Roth has his own take on the Pac-12 South tilt this Saturday in Los Angeles. The undefeated Buffs have momentum, but USC is rested coming off a bye week.

Washington State

From Monday – the College Football Playoff Board of Managers added Washington State University president Kirk Schulz as the Pac-12 representative (ESPN). He replaces former USC president Max Nikias, who resigned from his post at USC over the summer.

Stanford

Stanford men’s soccer defender Tanner Beason was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after scoring two goals in the 4-2 win over Cal on Sunday.

Utah

Utah’s Carly Nelson was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week after posting clean sheets against Washington and seventh-ranked Washington State. The Utes have won three straight after losing their first two conference contests.

Arizona

Michael Lev features Arizona defensive end JB Brown, who got his first career sack against Cal.

Arizona State

Jeff Metcalfe reports that Arizona State senior linebacker Koron Crump is ending his college career early due to left knee issues.

California

Rusty Simmons reports that Cal football coach Justin Wilcox isn’t committing to a starting quarterback heading into Saturday’s game against UCLA.

Oregon State

Penning this piece for The Oregonian/OregonLive, Bob Lundeberg writes that Oregon State running back Artavis Pierce is hoping to get back in the swing of things during the bye week. Pierce missed three games with an injury but has still rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns.
