Wednesday is Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Media Day, and with that means the announcement of the preseason poll. As expected, Oregon was picked to win the Pac-12 by the coaches, with Stanford checking in at second and Oregon State third. Should be a great season of women’s hoops in the Pac-12, as the conference realistically could get four teams into the Sweet 16 and maybe even three with a shot at the Final Four (this blogger’s predictions normally die hard, though, so take that with a grain or two of salt).

Another blow to UCLA men’s basketball’s highly-touted recruiting class came Tuesday morning when the school announced that freshman guard Tyger Campbell will miss the season with a torn ACL that he suffered in practice Sunday (ESPN). This news comes after it was revealed that Shareef O’Neal won’t play this year either after doctors discovered the need for O’Neal to have heart surgery.
