Washington State

This was nothing short of incredible – former Coug Klay Thompson set an NBA record by hitting 14 3-pointers in the Golden State Warriors’ 149-124 win over the Chicago Bulls Monday night (ESPN). Thompson, who entered the game just 5-for-36 from 3-point territory on the season, needed just 24 attempts to knock down the 14 3-pointers and finished with 52 points in only minutes. He’s the only player in NBA history to score 50-plus points in under 30 minutes. And he’s done it twice.

Oregon

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert is in concussion protocol, head coach Mario Cristobal announced Monday. Kyle Bonagura goes on to report that Herbert’s status is unknown for the UCLA game on Saturday.

USC

USC football head coach Clay Helton is taking over play-calling duties from offensive line coach Neil Callaway, who has been relieved of his duties. Ben Kercheval of CBS Sports has more details in the link.

Oregon State

Oregon State men’s soccer senior Don Tchilao was named College Soccer News National Player of the Week on Monday after scoring the game-winning goals in triumphs over San Diego State and UCLA. He also garned Pac-12 Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors.

Arizona State

Former Arizona State wrestler Townsend Saunders will be inducted in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as part of the 2019 class, it was announced Monday. Saunders was a two-time Pac-10 champ and two-time All-American in Tempe.

California

Cal inside linebacker Evan Weaver was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, nabbing a pick-six and recording a team-high 11 tackles in the big win over the Dawgs.

Utah

Josh Furlong of KSL.com tells us that Utah football’s magic number of 30 is the key to the team’s recent success. The Utes are 4-0 when scoring 30-plus points against Pac-12 foes and 0-2 when they don’t.

UCLA

Ira Winderman of the Miami Sun Sentinel writes about the connection between Chip Kelly and Miami HEAT coach Erik Spoelstra (trust me, HEAT is in all caps).

Washington

Chris Petersen threw his support behind quarterback Jake Browning on Monday after removing him for two series during the 12-10 loss at Cal on Saturday. Tim Booth of the AP has the story.

Stanford

Vicki L. Friedman of espnW has this story on Stanford women’s volleyball trying to complete a perfect conference season (Minnesota is mentioned here too, but this isn’t the Big Ten roundup). The Cardinal is 12-0 in Pac-12 action, with the team's only loss of the season coming to top-ranked BYU.

Colorado

Following a disheartening loss to Oregon State, Colorado football is back to work and getting ready for Arizona, writes Brian Howell.

Arizona

With so many new faces in Tucson this year, Greg Hansen of the Arizona Daily Star tells us to temper our expectations for Arizona men’s basketball this year. Sean Miller is a heckuva coach, so this could very well be a great season for the ‘Cats, but this is a completely rebuilt roster. They’re unranked in the preseason.
