Oregon

Oregon women’s basketball is ranked third in the preseason AP Top 25 poll that was released Wednesday morning. Other Pac-12 teams ranked are No. 7 Stanford, No. 8 Oregon State, No. 23 Arizona State and No. 24 Cal, with defending national champion Notre Dame at No. 1 and UConn No. 2.

Washington State

Probably a little higher than expected, Washington State debuted at No. 8 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings (CougCenter). The Cougs are ranked No. 10 in the AP poll.

Arizona State

Arizona State softball pitcher G Juarez intends to transfer, she announced on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. Juarez was a first-team All-American as a sophomore in 2018, going 26-6 in the circle with an incredible 1.22 ERA.

Utah

Luke Easterling of USA TODAY’s DraftWire whips up this Q&A with Utah running back Zack Moss.

USC

USC AD Lynn Swann is “on board” with Clay Helton’s changes to his coaching staff, writes J. Brady McCullough of the Los Angeles Times.

UCLA

The matchup has lost a good chunk of the luster it had in the offseason when everybody was 0-0, but UCLA football coach Chip Kelly is “excited” to return to Autzen Stadium to take on his former team, the Oregon Ducks. Thuc Nhi Nguyen has the story in the preceding link.

Oregon State

Nick Daschel ponders who will start for Oregon State at quarterback against USC and asks why Jake Luton didn’t start against Colorado in this link. Luton was incredible off the bench, throwing for 310 yards and three touchdowns to earn Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week laurels in leading the Beavs back from a 31-3 deficit to an overtime win at Colorado.

California

Rusty Simmons writes that Cal men’s basketball showed some offensive spunk in its exhibition win over Cal State East Bay. The Golden Bears won 82-62, getting a team-high 18 points from Matt Bradley.

Stanford

The NFL trade deadline was Tuesday, and Jamison Hensley of ESPN reports that former Stanford wide receiver Ty Montgomery was traded by the Green Bay Packers to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2020 seventh-round draft pick. Montgomery unwittingly made headlines for deciding to return a punt out of the end zone in the final two minutes of the Packers’ game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday against the coaching staff’s wishes, fumbling the kickoff return with the Packers down two and essentially sealing a loss.

Colorado

Check out this Pac-12 Networks 2018-19 Colorado men’s basketball season preview. The Buffs have always been a tough out under Tad Boyle.

Washington

Adam Jude looks at how the turnover game is affecting Washington football. The Huskies are tied for first nationally with 14 forced fumbles but have a minus-4 turnover margin on the season.
