Washington State

Washington State will play Houston in the AdvoCare Kickoff on Sept. 13, 2019, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Kyle Bonagura reports. This gives the Cougs a better non-conference opponent than any of the three they faced in 2018.

Oregon

In more distant future college football scheduling news, Oregon and Oklahoma State agreed to a home-and-home series for 2025 and 2026, with the Cowboys making the trip to Autzen on Sept. 6, 2025, and the Ducks returning the favor the following year.

Washington

Former Husky and current Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz will see a shoulder specialist at the direction of his agent, ESPN’s Ian Begley and Tim Bontemps reported Tuesday. Fultz, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, will not practice or play in games until he has undergone the evaluation.

Arizona

The Wildcats certainly gave No. 3 Gonzaga a run for its money, getting out to a 13-point lead in the second half, but Arizona men’s basketball fell apart late in a 91-74 loss to Gonzaga, writes Bruce Pascoe.

USC

USC men’s basketball hit 17 3-pointers in a 99-80 win over Missouri State on Tuesday in Kansas City (highlights). Bennie Boatwright led the way with 22 points to pace the Trojans, as USC hadn’t hit this many 3-pointers as a team in a game since 2000.

Arizona State

Fresh off a win over No. 15 Mississippi State, Arizona State will square off against Utah State in the MGM Main Event championship game looking to keep its undefeated record intact, writes Michelle Gardner of The Arizona Republic.

California

Taking a look ahead at the Golden Bears’ next opponent on the gridiron, Colorado, Rusty Simmons writes that Colorado interim head coach Kurt Roper will have a tough time winning at Cal.

Colorado

Speaking of Roper, Brian Howell writes that Colorado football is feeling less pressure after the coaching change, even getting help from Jay MacIntyre, son of the fired Mike MacIntyre, in keeping things loose.

Oregon State

Heading into the Civil War, Nick Daschel notes that Oregon State running back Jermar Jefferson has had the heaviest workload as a Beaver back since 2010. His 218 carries trail only Jacquizz Rodgers’ 256 runs in 2010.

Stanford

The postponement of Big Game has allowed Stanford football to get healthier, writes Tom FitzGerald. It sounds like wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside and kicker Jet Toner should be able to go against the Bruins on Saturday.

UCLA

Thuc Nhi Nguyen details how UCLA offensive lineman Justin Murphy was able to return just four weeks after having knee surgery.

Utah

Kurt Kragthorpe looks at potential bowl-game scenarios for Utah football (and BYU as well, but this isn’t an FBS independents roundup).
