Roundup: Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II up for Walter Camp Player of the Year award

Washington State

Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II was named a finalist for Walter Camp Player of the Year. Other finalists include West Virginia quarterback Will Grier, Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa and Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen.

Washington

Washington linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for football, it was announced Wednesday. The Bay Area native rocks a 3.69 GPA and is majoring in comparative literature (cinema studies).

Stanford

Stanford women’s basketball signed the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2019, inking Haley Jones of San Jose to a National Letter of Intent. This class already had three top-50 recruits, so don’t expect a talent drop-off anytime soon on The Farm.

Oregon State

Oregon State men’s basketball center Gligorije Rakocevic is out for at least a month with a stress fracture to his left foot, Nick Daschel reports. The starting center is averaging 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game so far this season.

UCLA

Russell Westbrook tied Jason Kidd for the third most career triple-doubles in NBA history with his 107th triple-double in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 100-83 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night in OKC. Dude has 23 points, 19 rebounds and 15 assists.

Colorado

In other NBA news, former Colorado men’s basketball star Alec Burks was traded from the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers along with two draft picks for the sharpshooting Kyle Korver (Bleacher Report). Hopefully this move means more PT for Burks.

Arizona State

Arizona State men’s basketball is still undefeated following an 89-71 win over Omaha Wednesday night, getting 19 points apiece from Taeshon Cherry and Luguentz Dort (Pac-12 Networks recap).

USC

And check out the Pac-12 Networks recap from USC men’s basketball’s 75-65 victory over Long Beach State. Nick Rakocevic got his fourth double-double of the year by amassing 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Arizona
