California

Cal men’s swimming head coach David Durden was named head coach of the United States men’s team for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, it was announced Monday.

Stanford

Likewise, Stanford women’s swimming head coach Greg Meehan was named head coach of the United States women’s team for the 2020 Olympics. Only fitting that two of the best collegiate programs on the men’s and women’s side will lead the United States swimming contingents.

Arizona State

Having already declared for the NFL Draft, Arizona State wide receiver N’Keal Harry will not play in the Las Vegas Bowl and has signed with an agent, head coach Herm Edwards announced Monday. Kyle Bonagura has more details.

Washington State

He wasn’t invited to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony, but Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (best quarterback who is in his fourth year of college and is on track to graduate this year), so that’s a pretty sweet deal.

Colorado

Brian Howell updates us on the Colorado football head coaching search.

Utah

Kurt Kragthorpe looks at the similarities between the Utah and Northwestern football teams since the two will see each other in the Holiday Bowl on New Year’s Eve. These two both lost in their conference championship game, are known for their defenses and even shared the same bye week this season.

Oregon

Oregon women’s basketball remained at No. 3 in the latest AP Top 25 poll despite previous No. 1 Notre Dame losing to then-No. 2 UConn by 18 at home (The Oregonian/OregonLive). The Ducks will next be in action Sunday at Michigan State.

Arizona

Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star writes that Arizona men’s basketball passed its first true road test of the season with its 76-72 win at UConn on Sunday. The Wildcats will try to boost their record to 7-2 when Utah Valley comes to town on Thursday night (you can watch it on our airwaves at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT).

USC

We missed it on Monday because of the men’s water polo team winning it all, but USC men’s basketball let an opportunity slip in losing to Nevada, writes J. Brady McCullough. The Trojans led 35-29 at the half against the No. 5 team in the country but let the Wolf Pack start the second half on an 18-2 run that changed the course of the game.

UCLA

UCLA men’s basketball is entering the “toughest part of the schedule,” writes Ben Bolch. The win over LMU was the first of five straight games against teams in the top 40 in the NET rankings (this has replaced the RPI as the tool the selection committee will use to choose and seed teams for the Big Dance).
