GOLD RIVER, Calif. – On a rainy Sunday morning at Lake Natoma, the WASHINGTON men’s and women’s teams swept the Pac-12 rowing titles for the third-straight year. The Husky men won all five of their events to win its 39th all-time and Conference title, accumulating 72 points. The UW women won by just a half a point over STANFORD with 39.5 points, the smallest margin of victory since 2010. They won four of five events to claim its 17th all-time title Pac-12 title.

On the men’s podium, CALIFORNIA took second for the third-straight year with a total of 63 points. Stanford placed third for the second-straight year with 54 points.

On the women’s side, Stanford placed second with 39 points. It is the Cardinal's first second-place finish since 2016. California came in third by a close margin with 38.5 points.

The Washington men dominated throughout, winning all five events. They started the event out strong, winning the varsity four with a time of 6:18.298, with a 4.503 margin over second-place finisher Cal. Even through the rain, the Huskies won the V8 (5:34.950), second V8 (6:05.059), third V8 (5:55.887) and novice eight (5:50.809). The Cal men placed second in every men’s event except for the novice eight. Cal's V8 has come in either first or second place at the Pac-12 Championships for eight-straight years.

The women kept it close throughout, as Cal won the women’s V8 with a time of 6:11.901, Stanford came in second at 6:12.824 and Washington took third clocking in at 6:13.214. UW went on to win the second V8 with a time of 7:10.967. Halfway through the Championships, Washington, California and Stanford were locked in a three-way tie for first place. The Huskies pulled away with three-straight victories in the V4 (7:26.553), third V8 (6:39.054) and novice eight (6:28.972). On top of its victory in the V8, Cal finished in the top three in all five events. Stanford placed second in all four events it raced in.

Next up for Pac-12 men’s crews is the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship (IRAs) from May 29 – June 2 also taking place at Lake Natoma. The IRA will announce their national championship fields, seedings and lane draws via an online selection show. The webcast is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 at 4 p.m. PT.

The Washington women’s Pac-12 title gives them the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championships from May 31 – June 2 in Indianaplis, Ind. The NCAA Women’s Rowing Selection Show will be broadcast on NCAA.com at 2 p.m. PT on Tuesday, May 21.
