Six Pac-12 women's basketball teams ranked after historic wins

• After making headlines last week when it became the first-ever unranked NCAA Division I women’s basketball team to defeat top-three opponents in back-to-back games, ARIZONA STATE catapulted into the top-20 of the national rankings, coming in at No. 18 in the Associated Press poll and No. 19 in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll this week. With the Sun Devils ranked, half the Pac-12 appears in this week’s national rankings.
• No. 7/8 UCLA is the only undefeated team remaining in the country, boasting a program-best 16-0 record, including 5-0 in the Pac-12, its best start to league play since starting 6-0 in 2002-03. Also unbeaten in league play is No. 3/3 STANFORD, which stands at 4-0 heading into a challenging road trip facing No. 6/6 OREGON and No. 8/7 OREGON STATE. Also ranked this week is ARIZONA, coming in at No. 18/19.
• Highly-anticipated, top-10 matchups are slated for this week. Riding a five-game winning streak, the Cardinal hits the road for back-to-back top-8 matchups, taking on the Ducks on ESPN on Thursday, Jan. 16, in Eugene. On Sunday, Jan. 19, it travels to face Oregon State on Pac-12 Networks.
• The Bruins and USC close out their rivalry series this week, UCLA heading over to Galen Center on Friday, Jan. 17 for a Pac-12 Networks clash. Utah and Colorado also wrap up its rivalry games on Friday on Pac-12 Networks in Boulder.
• A national-best seven from the Pac-12 were named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Watch List. The Ducks boast three candidates, with Sabrina Ionescu, Ruthy Hebard and Satou Sabally making the cut. Oregon State also has a pair of candidates in Mikayla Pivec and Destiny Slocum. Arizona’s Aari McDonald and UCLA’s Michaela Onyenwere are also among the top 25 named.
• ASU’s Ja’Tavia Tapley was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week, ESPNW National Player of the Week and USBWA National Player of the Week after helping her squad to historic wins. She is the fourth from the Pac-12 to earn ESPN’s national weekly honor this season. Stanford’s Haley Jones was tabbed the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.
• Three Pac-12 student-athletes have eclipsed the 2,000-point threshold this season: Ionescu, Hebard and Washington State’s Borislava Hristova. The trio are the NCAA’s active career scoring leaders, as well.

ROAD TO NEW ORLEANS
Teams across the country will be focused on getting to New Orleans this season, the site of the 2020 NCAA Women’s Final Four on April 3 and 5. To get to New Orleans, teams will have to go through regional sites in Greenville, S.C., Fort Wayne, Ind., Portland, Ore., and Dallas, Texas. Oregon State hosts the Portland Regional for the second year in a row from March 27-March 30, 2020, with specific dates to be announced. The first and second round of the tournament will take place on 16 campus sites with the top-16 seeds hosting, March 19-22, 2020. The top 64 teams will learn their fates in the broadcast of the annual selection show on Monday, March 16, 2020.
