Pac-12 announces tennis players of the week

Pac-12 Men’s Tennis Player of the Week: Russell Benkaim, Jr., Utah (Bradenton, Fla.)
• Went 5-0 on the weekend, leading Utah to three victories including an upset over No. 23 Iowa (4-3) to help the Utes remain perfect in home matches this season (10-0).
• 54th-ranked pair of Benkaim and partner Randy Cory downed the nation's 10th-ranked duo of Oliver Okonkwo and Will Davies of Iowa to clinch the doubles point, breaking a 1-1 tie, and marking the pairs ninth-straight victory. 
• Recorded singles wins over Montana State’s Nejc Sitar (7-6, 6-3) and Southern Utah’s R.J. Parker (6-4, 6-1) to help the Utes blank the Bobcats and the Thunderbirds (7-0) on Saturday.
• This marks the juniors second-career men’s tennis player of the week award, the eighth all-time weekly honor for Utah.

Pac-12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week: Abbey Forbes, Fr., UCLA (Raleigh, N.C.)
• Helped then-No. 7 UCLA shutout No. 45 California (7-0) for the first time since facing the Golden Bears in the 2008 NCAA title match.
• Outlasted 50th-ranked Julia Rosenqvist of California (7-5, 6-4) to become the first Bruin to earn 20 wins, and give UCLA 3-0 lead.
• Added a doubles win over Cal’s Anna Bright and Alexis Nelson (6-2) with partner Taylor Johnson as the two competed for the first time as pair. 
• The eighth-ranked freshman is now 7-2 against top-50 opponents and holds a 20-2 overall record this season.
•  Forbes earns her first-career women’s tennis player of the week honors and UCLA’s 28th all-time weekly award.
