No. 2 CALIFORNIA earned five Pac-12 titles on day three of the 2020 Pac-12 Men’s Swimming Championship, positioning the Bears in first in the Conference title race with a score of 576. No. 10 ARIZONA STATE sits in second with 414 and No. 13 ARIZONA is in third with 387. 

Sophomore Hugo Gonzalez claimed the first Pac-12 title of the day in the 400-yard Individual Medley with a new Championship record and the country’s top time this year (3:36.60). Fellow Bears Ryan Hoffer, Julian Trenton, and Reece Whitley followed his lead taking first in the 100-yard Butterfly, 200-yard Freestyle, and the 100-yard Breaststroke, respectively. Sun Devil Zachary Poti won the 200-yard Medley Relay after setting a new Pac-12 Championship record in the prelims earlier in the day (44.14). 

400-yard Individual Medley
• Cal’s Hugo Gonzales took first in the 400 IM as the Bears swept its first event of the night. The sophomore’s 3:36.60 mark set a new Championship record and is the fastest time in the country this season.
• Fellow Bears Jason Louser and Sean Grieshop took second and third, respectively posting the Conference’s second and third fastest times this season, both good for NCAA ‘B’ cuts. 

100-yard Butterfly
• Cals Ryan Hoffer earned his third title of the competition in the 100-yard Butterfly, posting the third-fastest time in the nation, good for an NCAA ‘A’ Standard.
• Cody Bybee of Arizona State took second with an NCAA ‘B’ cut mark of 45.19, ranked second in the Conference this season.
• Cal’s Zhen Quah claimed third place with the league’s third-fastest time this season (45.24), also good for an NCAA ‘B’ Stanford. 

200-yard Freestyle 
•Trenton Julian of California took first in the 200 free with a time of 1.33.17, the second-fastest time in the league this season.
• Arizona State’s Jack Dolan posted a second-place finish in the event (1.33.29) good for an NCAA ‘B’ cut.
• Fellow Sun Devil Julian Hill recorded a (1:22.56) to claim third place, also earning a 'B' cut. 

100-yard Breaststroke 
• Cal’s Reece Whitley notched the second-fastest time in the country (50.85) as he claimed first place in the 100-yard Breaststroke.
• Hank Poppe of STANFORD posted a 52.33 mark to earn second place with the fourth-fastest time in the Pac-12 this year.
• Brennan Pastorek took third in the 100 breast with a time of 52.37.
• Whitley’s time was good for an NCAA ‘A’ Cut, and Poppe and Pastorek posted NCAA ‘B’ cut times. 

100-yard Backstroke 
• ASU’s Zach Poti defended his 100-yard Breaststroke title with the fastest time in the Pac-12 this year (44.98).   
• Cal’s Daniel Carr posted a 45.18 time in the event, the second-fastest time the league has seen this season.
• Fellow Bear Bryce Mefford took third with a 46.11 mark.
• All three times qualified for NCAA ‘B’ Cuts. 

200-yard Medley Relay 
• California’s Pawel Sendyk, Hoffer, Whitley and Carr defended the Bears’ 200-yard Medley relay title with a new Pac-12 Championship record (1:22.16).
• Arizona State’s Elijah Warran, Dolan, Bybee and Poti finished with a 1:22.75 mark to take second.
• UTAH’s Felix Chiun, Andrew Britton, Cooper Derdyk, and Liam O’Haimhirgin claimed third place (1:25.76) with the fourth-fastest time in the league this year.
• The top two times were good for NCAA ‘A’ cuts.
