Rivalry week in the Pac-12 presented few surprises when it came to the games' winners and losers, but some fierce battles highlighted the weekend. The stage is now set for the Pac-12 Championship as Arizona State hosts Stanford Dec. 7.
Ed Orgeron's chances of maintaining USC's head coaching position took a shot when the Bruins waltzed into the Coliseum and dominated the Trojans. Brett Hundley passed for 208 yards and rushed for a pair of critical touchdowns in the fierce rivalry. Both teams are bowl eligible and will learn their destinations on Dec. 8.
Kelvin York's 132 rushing yards helped the Utes build a 21-0 lead at home. The Buffs roared back in the second half, but never quite made up all the lost ground as Trevor Reilly sealed the game with an interception. Quarterback Adam Schulz talked about winning one for Utah's seniors. This was the regular season finale for both teams, as neither is bowl eligible.
In a de facto exhibition game a week before the Pac-12 title, the Cardinal earned revenge against Notre Dame for a controversial loss in South Bend in 2012. Stanford out-rushed the Irish 261-64 thanks in large part to Tyler Gaffney's 189-yard effort. The Pac-12 Championship at Arizona State is next for Stanford (Saturday, 4:45 PT, ESPN).
This see-saw Civil War was the most entertaining in recent memory. Both teams traded punches in the fourth quarter before Marcus Mariota found Josh Huff in the end zone with 29 seconds left to give the Ducks the last laugh. Oregon still has an outside shot at a BCS bowl berth, while Oregon State also learns its bowl fate Dec. 8.
Bishop Sankey's 200 rushing yards paved the way for a second-half Washington comeback and revenge in the Apple Cup, resulting in Steve Sarkisian's first eight-win season in Seattle. Both the Huskies and Cougars are bowl eligible. Stay tuned for selections on Dec. 8.
The Sun Devils clinched home field advantage in next week's Pac-12 title game with their dominance over archrival Arizona in the Territorial Cup. D.J. Foster's big night fueled the way, and Jaelen Strong discussed the rivalry afterward.
