SAN FRANCISCO - This Sunday, two new installments of “Our Stories,” presented by Opus Bank, premiere on Pac-12 Network, bringing fans feel-good stories from around the Conference of Champions on Mother’s Day. “Our Stories: Mother's Day Edition” airs at 12 p.m. PT / 1 p.m. MT, and “Our Stories: Natalie Chou” debuts at 12:30 p.m. PT / 1:30 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Network.

“Our Stories: Mother’s Day Edition,” presented by Opus Bank, highlights the important roles mothers have played in the lives of Pac-12 student-athletes and coaches, including California women’s gymnastics' Milan Clausi, Oregon State women’s track and field’s Destiny Dawson, and Stanford women’s basketball head coach Tara VanDerveer.

Clausi, whose mother, Missy Marlowe, was an All-American gymnast at Utah as well as a 1988 Olympian, talks about establishing her own legacy as a gymnast at Cal while honoring the legacy her mother left on the sport. Clausi also shares how her and her mother’s love for the sport has created a unique bond.

Dawson brings fans into her home and shares how sports have provided an escape during some difficult times. Serving as a legal guardian and hero for her siblings, Dawson talks about the importance of being a mother figure while continuing to compete at a high level for Oregon State.

VanDerveer talks about how her mother, Rita, inspired her to follow her dreams and continues to support her. The VanDerveers take a trip down memory lane to share memories of Tara’s childhood, including what led her to build a career in coaching, and how her sister influenced her coaching style.

Our Stories: Natalie Chou,” presented by Opus Bank, takes an in-depth look at UCLA women’s basketball player Natalie Chou, who shares her basketball journey, her love for the game and how her mother’s influence has inspired her to break down racial barriers on the court. Chou reflects on how her mom, who played professionally in China before coaching her daughter, made a huge impact on her basketball career and encouraged her to follow her hoops dreams, while inspiring her to be a role model for other female Asian-American basketball players. “Our Stories: Natalie Chou” features interviews with her mother as well as UCLA head coach Cori Close.

“Natalie has to be so much stronger than most people,” said Close. “I think about it in my own life, when I’m trying to blaze a new trail, when I’m trying something that I had not done in the past. It’s so much easier for me when I have someone to look to, someone who has provided a blueprint for me to accomplish that new skill. Natalie doesn’t have that. There isn’t someone to say, ‘Yeah I’m going to be a 6’2”, Chinese woman in division-one, power-five basketball, and how do I navigate that?’…. she’s doing it. She’s living it.”

Following “Our Stories: Natalie Chou,” then-No. 10 UCLA’s contest against Washington from this past season, in which Chou scored 18 points including four three-pointers, will air at 1 p.m. PT / 2 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Network.

Chou also used her platform as a student-athlete to speak out against the rise in racist sentiment directed at Asian-Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic, and discussed the issue with host Mike Yam on the “Pac-12 Perspective” podcast, presented by Nike, which is available now wherever fans get their podcasts.
